  28. Mark Willis was kind enough to write a little program called Targa 32 which
  29. will composite alpha channel masks with a sequence of images and you can do
  30. many other things as well.  You can also use it to mask an image with an
  31. alpha channel and composite it against a series of targas for a background
  32. as well.

  34. It only works with targa files however, not AVI's.  As far as getting
  35. Premiere to do compositing I think it can be done but most people use After
  36. Effects for this.

  46. it's fairly simple to do, but not obvious (especially without a manual)

  48. First, add the background image to track A
  49.  
  50. Add the foreground anim to superimpose track 1
  51.  
  52. Add the alpha channel anim to superimpose track 2 (add another video track
  53. if you haven't already with Projects>add/delete tracks)
  54.  
  55. Now for the trick.... select the foreground anim and goto transparency
  56. settings (ctrl T) and select "track matte".  This setting uses the video on
  57. the next video track as an alpha channel.
